Short abstract from the book:
Willow warbler is a common migrant, especially in autumn in the Faroes. There is only one confirmed breeding record (1985). The first willow warbler was ringed on Nólsoy in 1984. 235 willow warblers have been ringed in the Faroes on five localities. The birds have been ringed between 22 April and 22 October with peaks late May and mid September. Of the aged individuals (n=186) 65% were first year birds. Three ringed birds have been recovered – all ringed on Nólsoy. One bird ringed on 7 September 1996 was controlled 7 days later in Sussex, England, 1,293 km SSE of the ringing site, and an average minimum speed of 184 km/day. A bird ringed on 19 May 2003 was controlled after 6 days on Fair Isle, Shetland. A willow warbler ringed on 1 September 1994 at Hedemova, NW of Stockholm in Sweden was recovered on 18 October 1994 on Nólsoy, 1,224 km WNW from its ringing site.
