Short abstract from the book:
Eider is a common breeding bird in the Faroes with approximately 6,000 breeding pairs. 140 eiders have been ringed on 15 localities, most in Sumba, Suðuroy (74). Most birds have been ringed between May and August. There have been 12 recoveries. All were recovered at the ringing site, except two which were recovered 1 km and 4 km from the ringing site, respectively. One eider, ringed as an adult on 22 July 1989 at Ísafjarðardjúp in Iceland, was recovered on 20 July 1998 in Borðoyavík, Borðoy, 883 km ESE of the ringing site. There is an old recovery of an eider ringed June 1959 in Murmansk, Russia and recovered December 1959 in the Faroes. However, the identification of the species has not been confirmed and is therefore omitted from figure 1B.
