Chaffinch has bred three times in the Faroes and occurs as a visitor throughout the year. 18 Chaffinches have been ringed, all except one on Nólsoy. The first was ringed on Nólsoy in 1985, and most birds were ringed in 2000 (5). A male ringed 6 April 1985 on Nólsoy was recorded seven days later on North Ronaldsay, Orkney, 374 km to the SE.
